Nyah: Scout of Sa Jerag

The lonely sound of a ship’s bell in the distance pierces the blackness of the night
Water slaps against a smooth, sandy rivers edge in rhythm with each ripple.

SUDDENLY, embers invade the darkness. A dimly lit hand brings the old sun dried scrolls to the ember. A plume of yellow-white flame flares and illuminates my battered face , I’m born in GOR, with my younger sister, Morana. The forest, my home, where we grew up together, learning to survive, scouting & free!

My raven black hair is wet and matted. Face drips with water or sweat. A large cut runs the length of my face from the corner of the eye to my chin. It bleeds freely. There’s a sound of unbuttoning of clothing
Two feet straddle my legs. A stream of urine flows in between & by my torso where my exhausted body failed me
I look up at the male. A look of realization crosses my face. It is followed by frustration, anger, and finally resignation.

A voice from the darkness whispers, “How are you Nyah?”
The reply’s slight. “There’s something wrong with my legs….they wont move”
The male stays in the shadow, a sarcastic “Awww” whispered.

“Why NOW, why my sister…where are you taking her?”

A soft “SSsssh”, ”She’s ripe & luscious, ready for the picking!”

“Take me instead, she’s too young, please for gor’s sake!” Tormented I try to make out the silhouette.

“…and ruin the hunt Nyah? Come, come, I want to see you track us down and your sister” voice begins to melt into the night sky. I scan the darkness for him.

CRACK!!!
A log connects with my head, my body is spun around with the force, I roll over unconscious.

Years pass I scout the forests, mountains, cities, picking up clues, pursue sightings, bribe, use males looking for my sister I search every point on the compass My scouting skills tuned to the highest level, however I still cant find herr. The loss of Morana makes me withdraw, an outcast, shunned by some panther’s and chased off their lands.
My canoe docked in the Sa Jerag jungles, the huntresses showed no aggression to me and welcomed me into their camp, I stay there now and scout for them they offer unconditional love, one day I’ll find my sister.........one day
